In case you didn’t notice, I gave the website a bit of a facelift to celebrate the release of Halo 3: ODST. Changes were made for two specific reasons: to reflect that ODST content will be integrated into the current system along with simplification of the website in general. There is one primary thing I am still working on, and that is making the top header a clickable link back to the home page. Until I find a workaround to the issues preventing that (my goal is having it in place by this weekend), there is a home link in the footer at the top of the left column.

Another project I will be working on is implementing an invisible search system. Right now there is no easy way to search for map specific shots, shots with particular weapons, shots with your favorite armor permutation, things of that nature. This will be a continued work in progress and will roll out as it’s done. Feel free to leave suggestions on various things you would like to be able to search for.

As always, feedback is welcome, listened to, and appreciated. Oh, and happy ODST-ing!

  1. Sweet, looks way better.
    Good job! :)

  2. It looks great as always. One suggestion I would make is to add more convenient link to Hawty McBloggy. I usually go there from here. Then again, I could just add it to my favorites. Keep up the good work.

    • I made the link larger and bit less inconspicuous. It’s still located on the bottom left. :)

  3. Awesomeness!

  4. I see you got the top banner working. Have you looked at it in IE yet? It seems a bit off. Let me know if you need a screenshot.

    • I checked it on IE yesterday, but that was before I got the header trick working. You are right, it’s completely off on that browser. Hopefully it will be an easy fix. Thanks for the heads up, and I’m on it! :)

EDIT: I think I resolved the issue. If anybody that uses IE could confirm or deny that, I would greatly appreciate it!

  5. Hmmm… now it seems to be covering up part of the navigation bar.

    • On Firefox or IE (and which version of IE if it’s applicable)? Will you clear your cache and screencap it for me by chance? I’m getting both browsers as being ok at the moment. Then again, IE is weird about properly updating for me even after cache clears and whatnot.

  6. I feel the new banner is uninspiring and quite dull.

  7. I’ll screencap it for you tomorrow when I go back to work. Its not a huge deal or anything. Who uses IE anymore anyways? I just use it at work because they wont let up DL anything else.

  8. Here’s that screencap for ya. I hope this helps:

    • Awesome, thanks for that SPOC. It’s looking fine on my version of IE but I just realized I’m running 7 (I use Firefox) and haven’t upgraded to their latest version. I’ll go do that now and take another look at things.

Thank you so much for your help!

  9. Don’t mention it.

    • I do believe the issue is fixed. After messing with the header for a while, I finally opted to lengthen the navigation bar instead. It seemed like the easiest way to fix the IE issues with minimal effect on the Firefox display. Things better on your end?

      :crosses fingers:

  10. @ bs angel,

    Yeah, something like that.

  11. The new layout is definitely more sleek, but I don’t like it as much. It might be because I’m just not used to it, but the I feel like the black background makes the site darker and not as interesting.

  12. Sorry it has taken so long to reply. Yes, It look fine on my end.
    :D
